Friar Zdzisław Józef KIJAS, OFM Conv., has written a new book entitled, “Maximilian Kolbe: The Inner Journey”. The book is published by Effatà Publishing House, Turin, Italy. Copies are now available in Italian.

The text takes a penetrating look at our Saint Maximilian from a spiritual point of view, highlighting the special aspects of his maturation of faith. In addition to his many achievements, the book describes the earthly pilgrimage of the Martyr of Charity through different themes: obedience, work, humility, prayer, contemplation, overcoming one’s fears and helping others.
The work “skillfully and harmoniously unites the characteristics of the Martyr’s inner journey with his remarkable missionary drive”. This is how the Minister General, Friar Marco TASCA, expressed himself during the book’s presentation. He extended a special invitation to all the friars to reflect incessantly on the primacy of leading a life of union with God.
Friar Zdzisław has been a solemnly professed member of the Order since December 8, 1984. He was ordained a priest on May 25, 1986 and is a member of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow).
Friar Zdzisław has held the position of the Dean of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure (Seraphicum) in Rome and currently works as a Relator in the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. He has published numerous works in different languages, on the topics of spirituality, ecumenism, theology and anthropology.
His book is also available in Polish, under the title: “Życie jako dojrzewanie świętości” [Life as the Maturing of Holiness], published by Bratni Zew Publishers in Cracow.
