On April 16-19, 2018, the friar Capitulars of Our Lady of Consolation Province in the USA gathered at Mount St. Francis, Indiana, for the first part of their Ordinary Provincial Chapter.

Friar Marco TASCA, the Minister General, was the Praeses of the Chapter, and Friar Jude WINKLER, the Assistant General for the Conventual Franciscan Federation (CFF), was also present. Friar Jorge Arturo DOBLES ULLOA, the Custos of the Custody of Mary, Mother of Mercy in Central America also participated.
Friar Wayne HELLMANN was elected Minister Provincial in an election conducted by postal ballot before the Chapter.
Friar Martin DAY was elected Vicar Provincial, Friar Nicholas WOLFLA as Secretary, and Friars Miguel BRISEÑO, Mario Luevano SERRANO, Andrew MARTINEZ and John POZHATHUPARAMBIL as Definitors.
Friar Gary JOHNSON was chosen as the formation director and guardian of the community at the house of post-novitiate formation in San Antonio, Texas.
One of the main themes that kept coming up in the friar’s discussions was the need to reach out to the poor and discarded of our society.
The second part of the Provincial Chapter will take place at Holy Cross Friary in Mesilla Park, New Mexico, USA, beginning on June 4.
On the evening of April 18, there was a jubilee celebration for friars celebrating anniversaries of temporary and solemn profession and ordination to the priesthood.
