On June 24, 2020, the President of Poland, Andrzej DUDA, posthumously awarded the Order of the White Eagle (Order Orła Białego), the highest honor of the Republic of Poland, to the war hero Friar Łucjan KRÓLIKOWSKI, OFM Conv.
Friar James McCURRY, the Minister Provincial of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in the USA, accepted the award on Friar Łucjan’s behalf. The ceremony took place at the residence of the Polish Ambassador to the United States in Washington D.C.

In the President’s stated motivation for bestowing the award we read: “In recognition of his outstanding merit in social and charitable activities benefitting Polish war orphans, victims who were forcibly relocated from Poland’s eastern borders to territories deep within the Soviet Union, and for his pastoral work and dedication in helping others”.
