The CFF met in their semi-annual meeting in Castro Valley, California from October 8-10, 2019.

All of the jurisdictions were represented. The topics treated included some issues concerning the financial budgets of the formation programs, reports from the various liasons for vocation promotion, initial formation, continuing formation, the MI, etc. Some initiatives for continuing formation were discussed and approved.
A highlight of the gathering was a report given by fr. Michael Lasky concerning an 8 week program for student friars on issues of justice, peace and the integrity of creation. This program was held at various sites in the US as well as Latin America. It allowed the student friars the opportunity of experiencing programs designed to address concerns at a hands on level (and not just at a theoretical basis).
Fr. Michael Lasky was proposed as coordinator for justice, peace and integrity of creation issues for the CFF. He is currently the full time coordinator for these issues for Our Lady of Angels Province.
The friars visited famous sites of San Francisco on the last day of the meeting, including the National Shrine of St. Francis where there is an exact replica of the Portiuncula Chapel.
