On May 15-16, 2025, the Ministry and Mission Commission of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in the USA (OLA) held a second gathering of friars in Ellicott City, Maryland, USA, in order to reflect on their ministries in light of the proposed restructuring of the Province during its 2026 Ordinary Provincial Chapter.

The friars were confronted with the reality of the projected reduction in numbers of friars who would be available for ministry over the next four years. They were invited to begin a process of shifting their ministries from maintenance to mission in today’s Church.
“The presence of the Holy Spirit was powerful as we discerned our future together,” said the Minister Provincial, Friar Michael HEINE, OFM Conv.
The Ministry and Mission Commission also presented an initiative to be proposed at the upcoming Chapter to foster a culture of evangelization and direct service to the poor by the friars.
