On Saturday, July 22, 2023, the Most Reverend Benjamin PHIRI, Bishop of Ndola, Zambia celebrated a Mass for the elderly and the aged under the theme “His Mercy Is from Age to Age” (Luke 1:50).

In the parishes, in turn, celebrated the Day for the Elderly and Aged on Sunday July 23, 2023. During the Mass, Bishop PHIRI recognized twenty-one priests and religious sisters for their various contribution to the Diocese. Among them, three Conventual Franciscans were honored for their long service to the Church: Friars Tiziano Giuseppe BRAGAGNOLO, Anthony DROLL, and Camillo VENTURINI.
At the same Mass, Bishop PHIRI also launched the 50th anniversary of the day that small Christian communities came together to form the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA). This anniversary celebration runs from July 2023 to July 2024. The parishes launched their own celebration on August 19, 2023, with various activities. The small Christian communities are encouraged to intensify biblical studies during this period as a way of deepening their faith.
