On August 2, 2022, the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels (Portiuncula), thirteen young men were vested in the habit of the Order as they began their novitiate year in the Province of the Franciscan Protomartyrs in Zambia. The vesting ceremony took place at the San Damiano Novitiate House at Itimpi in Kitwe, Zambia.
The Vicar Provincial, Friar Kayombo Matthew MUKOSAYI, presided over Mass for the event, which was attended by some postulants and solemnly professed friars. It was an inspiring and joyful moment when the Director of Novices, Friar Kennedy MUSEKWA, received the thirteen young men into the novitiate. Nine of the new novices are from Zambia, two are from Kenya and two are from Tanzania.
