On Saturday, January 6, 2018, the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the Minister General of the Friars Minor Conventual, Friar Marco TASCA, announced the 201st General Chapter. It shall begin on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
In keeping with the mandate of the 2013 Ordinary General Chapter, the Minister General has convoked the Extraordinary General Chapter to finalize and approve the text of the new Constitutions. The Chapter will be celebrated in Nemi (Rome) at the Centro Ad Gentes Retreat Center operated by the Society of the Divine Word. It will start on the afternoon of July 24, 2018, and presumably end on August 26.
The Capitulars will be called to give our Order a new spiritual and juridical interpretation, one which is more responsive to the times we live in. The confreres will discuss the text of the Instrumentum laboris, which is the result of the work of the International Commission for the Revision of the Constitutions and the discussions held at the Conventual House Chapters of all our presences around the world.
Let us pray that this fraternal event may be, as our Seraphic Father St. Francis instructed, a time of listening to the Holy Spirit who calls us to follow and serve the Lord in our daily lives.
