On January 27-31, 2019, the Assistant General for the African Federation of Conventual Franciscans (AFCOF) visited the formation houses of East Africa, namely, the postulancy house in Ruiri-Kenya and the novitiate in Arusha-Tanzania.

Friar Tadeusz ŚWIĄTKOWSKI met with the postulants and novices to animate them and give them an update on various issues in the Order.
At present in East Africa, there are eight novices—three from Kenya, three from Tanzania and two from Uganda. There are twenty-eight first-year postulants—ten from Kenya, thirteen from Tanzania and five from Uganda. There are eighteen, second-year postulants currently undergoing formation in Munyonyo, Uganda.
These formation houses, and their respective canonically erected friaries, belong to the Provincial Custody of St. Francis of Assisi in Kenya and the Provincial Custody of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Tanzania. The friars of both communities collaborate in the formation program.
The formators involved are the Novice Master, Friar Dennis Ntabo GWARO from Kenya; his Assistant, Friar Piotr BUJNOWSKI from Tanzania; the Rector of Postulants, Friar Blasio Ooko OLENGE from Kenya; and his Assistant, Friar Gifton Kiwo MBAYA also from Kenya.
