On September 21-24, 2020, the first part of the Ordinary Provincial Chapter of the Province of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the Czech Republic was held in Brno.
Nineteen Capitulars participated, with the Minister General of the Order, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI, presiding. Also attending was the Assistant General for the Foederatio Europae Mediae et Orientalis (FEMO), Friar Tomáš LESŇÁK.
At the beginning of the Chapter, reports concerning the life of the Province were read out. The issues presented in the reports were then discussed.
On the second day of the Chapter, in the evening, the friars elected a new Minister Provincial on the first ballot. He is Friar Piotr PAWLIK, the former Guardian of the friary in Brno.
On the following day, the members of the Provincial Definitory were elected. They are Friars Stanisław GRYŃ, Vicar Provincial; Petr MACHÁČEK, Provincial Secretary; Friar Stanisław STEC, Provincial Econom; and Friar Sebastian GRUCA, Definitor. After the election of the Definitory, the new Guardians were elected.
On the last day of the Chapter, the friars selected some points from the evaluation of the life of the Province and handed them over to the Provincial Definitory. They will be used to prepare the Instrumentum Laboris for the second part of the Chapter, which will be celebrated November 23-25, 2020.
