On Saturday, March 11, 2023, Friar Camilo CALLE RAMÍREZ of the Provincial Custody of St. Francis of Assisi in Colombia was ordained to the priesthood. The ordination took place at the El Hermano Francisco Church in Medellín with the Most Reverend Ricardo TOBÓN RESTREPO, Archbishop of Medellín, Columbia, presiding.
Several friars from Colombia attended the ceremony, along with friars from other Jurisdictions, namely, Friar Michael LASKY, the Delegate General for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation; Friar Mario Darío CORREA, the Vicar Provincial of the “Rioplatense” Province of St. Anthony of Padua in Argentina-Uruguay; Friar André Luiz FERREIRA MACHADO, the Novice Master for Brazil; and Friar Richard ROME from the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in the USA). Others attending the ordination included the members of the Custodial Definitory, men and women religious, priests, family members and friends, and many faithful from the local parish community. On Sunday, March 12, 2023, Friar Camilo celebrated his first Mass at San Pio X Church in Itagüí, Antioquia, Colombia.
Friar Camilo was born in Medellín on July 15, 1990. He entered the postulancy program on January 19, 2014. He made his simple profession on December 11, 2016; his solemn profession on February 6, 2021; and was ordained to the diaconate on April 2, 2022, at the Santa Clara de Asís Church in Corozal, Sucre, Colombia.
