At 6.00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, the episcopal ordination of Archbishop Marco TASCA was celebrated in Piazza della Vittoria in Genoa, Italy. His Eminence Angelo Cardinal BAGNASCO presided.

Due to the pandemic, the liturgy was celebrated outside. This allowed around 1,000 people to take part; along with officials, friends and family of Archbishop TASCA and many confreres, particularly those belonging to the Italian Province of St. Anthony of Padua (Northern Italy).
At the end of the celebration, Archbishop TASCA first thanked the Lord for the gift of life and for his vocation to religious and priestly life. He next thanked Pope Francis for the trust he placed in him, in wanting him to be the Archbishop of Genoa. He also thanked Cardinal BAGNASCO for being there and for his leadership in the Church in Genoa. Then he thanked all the faithful of Genoa. As their new shepherd, he wants to be a father and brother to them all and thereby encourage them to take care of each other. Finally, he thanked his family of origin, the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, and even the many who were unable to attend the event.
In his closing remarks, Archbishop TASCA said, “And now, let us begin to serve the Lord and together seek the face of the Father that we may be authentic witnesses of the joy of belonging to his Son Jesus Christ.” We pray that the Father of Mercy may accept all his good intentions.
