On January 31, 2024, an international meeting of all the Capuchin Franciscan animators for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), from around the world, met at the Capuchin friary in Frascati, Italy. The Conventual Franciscan General Delegate for JPIC, Friar Michael LASKY, was the keynote speaker for the gathering.

The Capuchin friars enjoyed being inspired to think of JPIC in different ways. Rather than seeing it as “issue driven advocacy,” the friars were encouraged to think of JPIC as a way of proclaiming that “Jesus is Lord” in our world today and the moral implications which flow from that proclamation of faith.
On February 8, 2024, a meeting of Roman VI, (the JPIC representatives of the six branches of the Franciscan Family in Rome), took place at the Seraphicum College in Rome. The meeting began by welcoming the newest member, Friar Carlos CAMPOS, TOR, and, at the same time, wishing all good things for Friar Joel DE JESUS, OFM Cap., who will soon be returning to his Province.
Of the many things that were discussed, one item to be shared with the Franciscan Family was the recent announcement of a course for the formation of JPIC animators of the Franciscan Family. The course is entitled: “Greccio and La Verna, Sources of Justice, Peace, and Reconciliation.” This program is a collaborative effort run by the General Office for JPIC of the Friars Minor and the Pontifical University of St. Anthony (Antonianum). It will run May 19-26, 2024, and will offer simultaneous translation in Italian, English, and Spanish. For more information, please contact: pax@ofm.org
