On June 29, 2019, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the friars of the newly erected Province of Kenya experienced the great joy of witnessing the priestly ordination of three of its friars.
The new priests are Friars Paul Njoroge KIMANI, Vincent Onyango OKUMU and Joseph Nyaga KIBONGE.
The ordination took place at the parish in Naivasha (90 km [56 miles] from Nairobi). The Most Reverend Maurice Muhatia MAKUMBA, Bishop of Nakuru, Kenya, presided.
The ordination was attended by most of the friars from Kenya and many faithful.
The Kenya Jurisdiction was founded as a mission in 1984 by the Province of the Immaculate Mother of God in Poland (Warsaw). It was later transferred to the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Poland (Gdańsk). It was erected as the second Province of our Order in Africa during the 202nd Ordinary General Chapter. On September 23, 2019, it will celebrate its first Ordinary Provincial Chapter.
On that occasion, the first Minister Provincial will be elected.
Kenya has over forty solemnly professed friars and around forty young Kenyans in initial formation.
