On September 11-15, 2023, the Province of St. Paul the Apostle in Malta celebrated the first part of its thirty-first Ordinary Provincial Chapter. The event took place at the Franciscan Cultural Center in Birkirkara, Malta.

The Minister General, Friar Carlos Alberto TROVARELLI, presided, assisted by the Assistant General for the Federazione Inter-mediterranea Ministri Provinciali (FIMP), Friar Giovanni VOLTAN.
The Chapter logo was taken from Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing something new!” The Chapter began with a day of prayer. Father Luigi M. EPICOCO guided the friars in a mediation on the relevance of Isaiah’s prophecy. While gathered in Birkirkara, the friars prayed together and continued to reflect and discern during group work on what emerged from the four Preparatory Assemblies, held in the past months, regarding the life of the Province. The atmosphere during the Chapter was fraternal and constructive.
On Wednesday afternoon, September 13, Friar Colin Charles SAMMUT was elected to his second term as Minister Provincial. He was elected on the first ballot with a large majority. The next day, the Provincial Definitors were elected. They are Friars Paul DARMANIN, Vicar Provincial (second term); Friar Christian Anthony BORG, Provincial Secretary (second term); and Friars Joseph XERRI, Andrew GALEA and Allister M. AQUILINA, Definitors.
The second part of the Chapter will be celebrated October 23-27, 2023.
