A few days ago, the Conventual Franciscan musical group “Pokój i Dobro” [Peace and All Good] released a single entitled “Tyś mój” (You Are Mine) to promote its new album. The bandmembers are all friars in post novitiate formation at the Franciscan Seminary in Łódź Łagiewniki, Poland.
For over forty years, seminarians there have been giving concerts and putting out albums. The band’s discography includes more than a dozen pieces, released on cassette tapes and, in recent years, on five CDs.
The band performs a dozen concerts a year, but has been touring a little less recently because it is recording a new, sixth album, entitled, “Księga Nadziei” (The Book of Hope). The album is scheduled for release in March of 2025. However, the video of the song “Tyś mój,” which promotes the new album, has already been released.
“Tyś mój” (You Are Mine) is a song about the experience of escaping into loneliness and sadness. The song’s most important message is God’s own words to each of us personally: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name: you are mine” (Is 43:1).
In creating this song and the music video, the friars in the band wanted everyone to hear God’s voice in their hearts telling them that they are his beloved children. Life without fear is possible if we trust the Father and allow ourselves to be guided by his love.
