As we open a new Conventual Franciscan mission in Rwanda, we give thanks to the Lord God for enabling the Order to continue expanding its missionary presence.

On April 18, 2026, the Most Reverend Marco TASCA, OFM Conv., Archbishop of Genoa, presided over a series of priestly and diaconal ordinations in Nairobi, Kenya. During the same Mass, he also presented the missionary crosses and entrusted the missionary mandate to Friars Tadeusz BRZOZOWSKI, Remmy Simiyu MUKHWANA, and Francis Mutuku KIIO. The new mission in Rwanda was established by the friars of the Province of St. Francis of Assisi in Kenya.
On April 29, 2026, the missionary friars arrived in Rwanda. They first met with the Friars Minor (OFM) in Kigali and then traveled to the site of their new mission. Before fully beginning their ministry, they will spend time in various parishes learning the local language, Kinyarwanda, and gaining a deeper understanding of daily life and pastoral work in Rwanda.
Dear confreres, Poor Clares, supporters, and friends of our missions, we entrust this newly established mission, together with the friars who serve there, to your prayers. Peace and All Good!
