A new Conventual Franciscan website has been launched. It features an electronic version of the new Polish translation of the Writings of St. Francis. This translation is based on the critical edition by Carlo PAOLAZZI published in 2009. Friar Krzysztof KUKUŁKA, OFM Conv., completed the translation. Friar Krzysztof KUKUŁKA (1959), is a friar of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow). From 1990 to 2004, he worked in Kazakhstan. In 1997, he was appointed by the Holy See as the Ordinary of the Missio sui iuris in Uzbekistan and served at the nunciature as cultural attaché. In 2005, he began studies at the Franciscan Institute – St. Bonaventure University in the United States, graduating in the fall of 2006 with an MA degree. In the same year, he began studies at the St. Bonaventure Pontifical Theological Faculty (Seraphicum) in Rome, where, in 2007, he obtained a licentiate in theology with a specialization in Christocentric Franciscan spirituality. From 2007 to 2011, he studied at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, where, in 2012, he defended his thesis “The Human Person as Relatio: The Icon of the Holy Trinity in St. Bonaventure,” receiving a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). From 2016 to 2021, he resided in Cracow, where he taught for one year at the Institute of Franciscan Studies. After several years of effort, he published: “Św. Franciszek z Asyżu. Scripta – Pisma. Przekład z najnowszego wydania krytycznego. Wydanie łacińsko-polskie,” Cracow 2019 (St. Francis of Assisi. Scripta – Writings. Translated from the latest critical edition. Latin-Polish edition, Cracow 2019).
The aforementioned website features a revised and integrated version of the 2019 hard cover edition. It attempts to preserve, in a similar way, the parallelism of the Latin-Polish text found in the hard cover edition.
Following translations done in Dutch and French, this work is the latest translation of the critical edition of the written legacy of our Seraphic Father St. Francis of Assisi.
