On March 11-13, 2024, the Provincial Custody of the Holy Cross in Ukraine conducted an Extraordinary Custodial Chapter. The event took place at the Bl. James of Strepar Friary in Bilshivtsi, Ukraine.
The Provincial Custos, Friar Stanisław KAWA, presided over the Chapter. During the proceedings, the friars examined the draft of the Custodial Statutes prepared by the Custodial Definitory. After some discussion and the presentation of various amendments, each point of the Statutes was approved by an open vote.
Those present at the Chapter included the friars serving in Ukraine; the Minister Provincial of the Mother Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow), Friar Marian GOŁĄB; and the Assistant General for the Foederatio Europae Mediae et Orientalis (FEMO), Friar Tomáš LESŇÁK.
The Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI, was present online to attend the opening of the Chapter with the Capitulars. In his speech he stressed that the Custody is a sign of hope for Ukraine. He assured the friars of his prayers for the end of the war and peace for their nation, and he offered them his blessing.
