On June 18-24, 2018, Friar Jerzy NOREL the Vicar General and Friar Jacek CIUPIŃSKI the Assistant General for the Foederatio Europae Mediae et Orientalis (FEMO) made a fraternal visit to the Ukraine.

The main reason for the visit was to celebrate the first anniversary of the episcopal ordination of our confrere the Most Reverend Edward KAWA, Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv. Bishop Kawa is also the coordinator of the Secretariat of the “Pope for Ukraine” initiative, which is aimed at helping people affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The visit provided a good opportunity to dialogue about the state of the Church in the Ukraine and the status of the Franciscan communities there, as well.
During the visit, the Vicar General and the Assistant General met with the Most Reverend Mieczysław MOKRZYCKI, Archbishop of Lviv, along with Bishop KAWA and several friars from the friaries of Lviv, Bilshivtsi and Boryspil.
Next, the Assistant General took part in celebrating the solemnity of St. John of Dukla, a famous Franciscan of the fifteenth century and a co-patron of the city of Lviv together with our confrere Blessed James of Strepar.
