On February 5-7, 2020, the first seminar for Economs belonging to the Provincial Custody of Our Lady of Coromoto in Venezuela was held at the Santíssima Trinidad Church in Pueblo Llano, Mérida, Venezuela.
The Provincial Custos, Friar Franklin Antonio DURÁN ZAMBRANO, participated along with Economs from every friary in the Custody. The seminar was led by the Custodial Econom, Friar Deiby Antonio VERGARA PALENCIA.
The seminar was a time of reflecting upon and reviewing the service of the Econom. The friars discussed how to carry out this service and considered what the Rule, the Constitutions and the Provincial Statutes say on the subject of the Friary Econom. The friars examined the daily issues one faces in friary finances from a sympathetic and fraternal perspective. Two days were devoted to technical formation, under the guidance of an accountant, Marisol ESCALANTE. The friars were trained in managing and understanding the Venezuelan accounting system, which at this time, requires that we update and standardize the ledgers and deal with financial matters using a common accounting language.
The seminar helped the Custody of Venezuela take another significant step towards the transparency and growth of Jurisdiction and to be ever more faithful witnesses of the Gospel and of the teachings of our brother St. Francis of Assisi.
