Friar Janusz Marian DANECKI was born on September 8, 1951, in Sochaczew, Poland. He died on August 30, 2024, due to a surgical procedure from which he was unable to recover.

He was buried at the Jardim da Imaculada Shrine in Cidade Ocidental, Goiás State, Brazil, on Sunday, September 1, 2024. On August 31, his body was transported by plane to Brasília and then to the Jardim da Imaculada Shrine.
A well-attended funeral vigil took place in the chapel of the Shrine and continued throughout the day on Sunday. At 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, the funeral Mass and Rite of Burial began. Bishops attending the funeral included the Most Reverend Dimas LARA BARBOSA, Archbishop of Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil; the Most Reverend Vitório PAVANELLO, Archbishop Emeritus of Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul; and the Most Reverend Waldemar PASSINI DALBELLO, Bishop of Luziânia, Goiás State, Brazil. Also present were the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Brazil, Friar Gilberto DE JESUS RODRIGUES; many friars; diocesan priests; religious sisters from various congregations; and members of the Secular Franciscan Order, the Militia of the Immaculata, the Jardim da Imaculada Shrine and other parish communities.
After the Mass, there was a procession to the Imaculada Cemetery, which belongs to the Jardim da Imaculada Shrine. It was a time of sadness and emotion, but also a time of great trust in the mystery of the Passion and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This painful event made it clear to everyone that our confrere, the Most Reverend Janusz Marian DANECKI, Auxiliary Bishop of Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, lived his faith with integrity. He gave witness to his love for God, the Church and the Blessed Virgin and taught us so much. Indeed, “he lived, worked, suffered, rejoiced and died for the Immaculata.”
