The Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI, has proposed Tuesday, March 24, 2020, to be a day of prayer and fasting for all the confreres of the Order. This fast is being conducted in solidarity with all those who are suffering, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In his letter of March 18, 2020, the Minister General wrote that holding this fast on the eve of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, “is meant to be a sign of our commitment to pray for the needs of humanity and, at the same time, to be an expression of our trust in God, the Lord of life and history. We are one family, among ourselves and with the whole world. Everything is connected, and in this reality we wish to offer our prayer, our dedication and our loving closeness.”
We should respond to this invitation, because, being brothers, we are called to share fully in the events affecting so many people in Italy today, people whose lives are filled with concern. Our communion in the Spirit shall give strength and courage to all, because it enables us to sense the nearness of the presence of the Risen Lordo.
