On May 6, 2024, the Conventual Franciscan friars of the Mission in India [West Bengal], a joint mission of the Province of St. Paul the Apostle in Malta and the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in India, celebrated a momentous occasion with the blessing of their new St. Joseph Friary in Daldali, State of West Bengal, India.

The ceremony, which also marked the 10th anniversary of the founding of the joint mission, commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the blessing of the friary and the celebration of Mass.
The Most Reverend Paul MATTEKATT, Bishop of Diphu, India, led the solemn occasion. He was accompanied by the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in India, Friar Michael EARALY, and the Pastor of the church in Dhansiri, India, Father Zacharias M. T. The presence of friars from the Province of India and its Delegation and missions, as well as religious sisters and local community members, made the event even more vibrant.
The ceremony was further enriched by traditional welcome dances and colorful outfits worn by the local people. These highlighted the diverse cultural tapestry of the region. The precise and beautiful choreography of the performances made the event both captivating and highly commendable. The blessing of the St. Joseph Friary stands as a symbol of growth and devotion within the joint mission, it embodies the mission’s commitment to service and spirituality.
