On Thursday, September 1, 2022, the Province of St. Francis of Assisi in Kenya witnessed the priestly ordination of another of its friars. The Most Reverend John Oballa OWAA, Bishop of Ngong, Kenya, presided over the celebration. The ordination took place at the St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral in Ngong.

The new priest is Friar Peter Kyalo MWEMA. Twelve other candidates were ordained to the priesthood with him, including two diocesan priests, a priest of the Carmelite Order and nine priests from the Franciscan Servants of Mary Queen of Love.
In his homily, the bishop stressed the role of priests as shepherds who have a responsibility to look after the sheep that have been entrusted to their care. Using symbolic items, namely, a basin and a towel, he told them that their apostolate is to tend God’s flock following the example of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd.
Hearty congratulations to the newly ordained. May your apostolate be fruitful.
