On October 28, 2021, the Minister General and his Definitory nominated Friar Michael LASKY as the new Delegate General for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (GPIC). He will take over for Friar Joseph BLAY who has been appointed the Co-Secretary for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation for the International Union of Men’s and Women’s Superiors General (UISG and USG) in Rome.
Friar Michael is a member of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in the USA. He is currently the Pastor of the Our Lady of Grace Parish in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, USA. Over the years, he has worked for Franciscans International as a regional director, and for the Franciscan Action Network as a board member and recently, as the Board President. He is the Provincial and Federation Director for GPIC work and has organized joint projects with the Jurisdictions of the Federación América Latina Conventuales (FALC). He has also been the director for a new CFF Federation website known as FranciscanVoice.org.
Knowing English and Spanish, he will begin his studies in Italian at the beginning of the new year, before commencing his responsibilities full time.
