From June 29 to July 2, 2020, the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Poland held the third and final part of its tenth Ordinary Provincial Chapter in Gdańsk.

This was a special Chapter especially because of the coronavirus pandemic. The first part was held from March 9-13, 2020, and although the second part was scheduled for April, it soon turned out that this would not be possible. The beginning of the second part of the Chapter was postponed several times until finally the decision was made to divide into Parts II and III. Part II concerned the election of the Guardians of the friaries and the heads of various Provincial works. With the approval of the Minister General, it was celebrated on May 26-27, 2020, in the form of a video conference with online voting. This was the first time in our history we had ever voted that way.
Part III of the Chapter took place in Gdańsk, with the permission of the health service authorities. It was held in the kościół Wieczerzy Pańskiej [Church of the Lord’s Supper], which is part of the kościół Świętej Trójcy [Church of the Holy Trinity]. During the Chapter sessions, the friars worked on and approved various Motions and the Province Four-Year Plan.
The Chapter was conducted in a good, fraternal atmosphere, and at the same time, the friars observed the required health care protocols. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the friars from Italy and Canada did not attend.
At the end of the Chapter, the Capitulars prayed for the confreres who had died over the last four years, namely, Friars Kalikst SZULIST, Dariusz DEMBKOWSKI, Bolesław MIKA, Stefan MALANDY and Ferdynand ZWOLAK.
