On Saturday, July 3, 2021, the Holy See announced that Pope Francis had appointed the Most Reverend Roberto CARBONI, OFM Conv., Bishop of Ales-Terralba (Sardinia, Italy) as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Oristano, Italy, and the Apostolic Administrator of the same Diocese of Ales-Terralba, thereby uniting the two Sees “in persona Episcopi“.

In a letter published on the website of the Diocese of Oristano, Bishop CARBONI explains further: “The two Dioceses of Oristano and Ales-Terralba are united in episcopal ministry – in person Episcopi – but they remain two separate and independent ecclesiastical jurisdictions and must be governed as such.”
Our brother bishop invites the faithful of both dioceses to continue strengthening their collaboration. In particular, he hopes to optimize a unitary path of formation for the priests and lay people of both dioceses, together with an interchange of priestly ministry.
Let us unite our prayers for Friar Roberto that the Lord Jesus may continue to conform him in his role as an outstanding shepherd.
