On February 8, 2023, the Province of St. Joseph in Slovenia conducted its annual Province Day at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Friary in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The meeting was dedicated to the continuing formation of the friars. In this context, Professor Peter TOPIČ was invited to give a lecture. He spoke about the pitfalls of the digital age and Internet addiction. Even religious run the risk of getting addicted to new media and being led into addictions.
The Province of Slovenia is about to adopt a directory on the use of new media. The directory is intended to help friars use new media correctly, especially as a tool to proclaim the Kingdom of God.
In the afternoon, the friars reflected on religious life in the Province and the Jurisdiction’s future projects, given its reduced number of friars. The Province is facing having to close some presences and to reduce the amount of pastoral activity it can carry out. The priority is to ensure the quality of the religious life and the Franciscan apostolate within the limits of what is actually feasible for the Province.
