The Conventual Franciscans of Provincial Custody of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Tanzania have been serving four outstations along the Nyumba ya Mungu Dam since the friars’ arrival in 1988.

Two of the outstations have grown both spiritually and materially to the point of being elevated to the level of a parish. On October 28, 2018, the bishop of the Diocese of Same elevated one of the outstations to a parish, placing it under the patronage of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe. The new parish will be headed by a diocesan pastor.
This is the second parish to have sprung from the Divine Mercy parish in Mwanga. Many thanks to all the friars who have worked at the Mwanga parish, for their dedication and commitment in serving God’s people at the Nyumba ya Mungu Dam. Friars Grzegorz BYKOWSKI and Everest Valentine MKENDA currently serve at Mwanga Parish.
On the same day, ninety-six boys and girls received the sacrament of confirmation.
