The friars of the Provincial Delegation in Uganda recently conducted their annual five-day spiritual retreat. The Delegation belongs to the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow).

The retreat took place January 16-21, 2023, at the Wenanty Katarzyniec Postulancy House in Kakooge, Uganda. Friar Piotr STANISŁAWCZYK, the Secretary General for Formation led the retreat following the lectio divina formula. The objective was to learn more about the Word of God contained in the five joyful mysteries of the Rosary.
Both the retreat program and the place itself, located near the forest, helped the friars enter into a more intimate relationship with the Word of God than they normally experience in their daily life. Each evening, during the community Mass, the friars were given time to share what the Word of God has done in their inner lives. In their concluding evaluations, the participants mentioned the openness and sincerity they felt in sharing God’s Word with each other.
On January 23, after the retreat, Friar Piotr STANISŁAWCZYK celebrated Mass with the nine postulants. During his homily, he focused on the dimension of the spirit of penance in the life of St. Francis.
The friars are especially grateful to Friar Paolo FIASCONARO, the Director of the Franciscan Missionary Center in Rome, for donating the chalice, paten and cruets that were used to celebrate the Mass.
