From June 27 to July 1, 2022, the friars of the Province of St. Bonaventure in the USA (SB) celebrated the second part of their Ordinary Provincial Chapter.
The majority of the friars attended in person at the Friary of Our Lady of Fatima in Marytown, Illinois, USA. Some participated online from Australia and elsewhere in the United States.
The main work of the Chapter was drafting the Provincial Four-Year Plan and revising the Provincial Statutes, making sure they were in conformity with the Constitutions and General Statutes.
The Provincial Four-Year Plan includes an ongoing formation program at the level of the friary as well as the Province. The friars also stalked about the need to continue and develop vocational promotion. The relationship with the Provincial Delegation in Australia was also discussed.
Two friaries in Rockford, Illinois, were suppressed, while a third in Peoria, Illinois, was moved to Wenona (in the same diocese).
The Guardians, Formation Directors, and Chairmen of the Commissions were elected. The Guardians of the three friaries in Australia will be elected as soon as the Minister Provincial, Friar Paul LANGEVIN, and the Assistant General for the Conventual Franciscan Federation (CFF), Friar Jude WINKLER, have completed their canonical visitation in November of 2022.
