On October 2, 2017, the Ministers General of the Franciscan First Order and the Third Order Regular (TOR) met with the Franciscan University Commission at the OFM friary of St. Mary of the Angels, in Assisi.

The Ministers General – Friar Marco TASCA, OFM Conv.; Friar Mauro JOHRI, OFM Cap.; Friar Michael PERRY, OFM; and Friar Nicholas POLICHNOWSKI, TOR – were updated on the current status of work related to the Franciscan University project.
The Commission, led by Friar Cesaro VAIANI, OFM, presented the text outlining the project and listened to comments made by the Ministers General. The academic and formative institutions of the Conventual Franciscan Order were represented by Friar Louis PANTHIRUVELIL, the Secretary General for Formation (SGF), and Friar Dinh Anh Nhue NGUYEN, the Dean of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure.
The next meeting is scheduled for the second half of December, 2017. Meanwhile, the text outlining the project will undergo review by the professors of the Antonianum, the Seraphicum and the Capuchin Historical Institute.
