The Province of the Franciscan Protomartyrs in Zambia celebrated some special religious events in August of 2019.
On Sunday, August 4, four novices (above) professed their first temporary vows into the hands of the delegated Provincial Definitor, Friar Timothy KAYULA. The ceremony took place at the Church of St. Maximilian Kolbe, in Mboya, Zambia. The newly professed are: Friars Erick PEZULU, Julius BANDA, Felix SAMBAKA and Emmanuel CHISHIMBA. Others present during the Mass included the Provincial Secretary, Friar Mathews KASONGO; the Novice Master, Friar Ryan MUTAYOMBA; the Pastor, Friar Elias MUTALE; other friars, parents, relatives of the newly professed friars and the faithful who came to witness the profession.
On Thursday, August 8, 2019, six postulants (above) began their canonical novitiate year at San Damiano Novitiate, Itimpi in Kitwe. The novices are Emmanuel KAPAMBWE; Emmanuel MALAMA; Peter CHIPULU; Jack Joachim MWAPE; Stephen Chanda SUMANI; and Macleno Mulenga KOMAKI. Others present for the event included the Minister Provincial, Friar Richard Francis CHIMFWEMBE; the Vicar Provincial, Friar Joseph KACHELEWA; the Provincial Secretary, Friar Mathews KASONGO; the Novice Master, Ryan MUTAYOMBA; and many other friars and postulants.
On Saturday, August 10, 2019, ten friars (above) professed their solemn vows into the hands of the Minister Provincial, Friar Richard Francis CHIMFWEMBE. The ceremony took place at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in Kapiri Mposhi. The new solemnly professed are Friars Obed SESA; Ernest MUKUKA; Cosmas PHIRI; Joshua MUMBA; Emmanuel KANDUWA; Marshall HAMUKOMBO; Gabriel CHILEKWA; Derby KAMANGA; Raymond MPUNDU; and Angel CHANDA. Others present during the Mass included friars from various communities, some religious men and women, the parents of the solemnly professed friars coming from Zambia and Malawi, and the faithful from Kapiri Mposhi and elsewhere.
