On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, the friars of the Province of St. Bernardine and St. Angelo in Italy (Abruzzo), observing the necessary precautions, met at the friary in Pescara to spend the morning together in fraternity and to finally see each other in person after months of being isolated due to the pandemic.

The meeting began at 9:30 a.m., with the choral recitation of Morning Prayer. Immediately after, the Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI and the Assistant General, Friar Giovanni VOLTAN greeted the friars and the Guardians proceeded to discuss how their communities were coping with the difficult situation posed by the pandemic. Thus, they presented a sort of balance sheet on the first months of their lives together since the renewal of the presences, which had been mandated by the Provincial Chapter last summer.
Subsequently, the Minister Provincial, Friar Mauro DE FILIPPIS, gave a presentation on the general status of the Province. He reported on the experiences of the young men in formation, provided some news about the mission in Burkina Faso and spoke about some financial issues, which were addressed in recent months.
Around noon, after a short break, the participants gathered to celebrate Mass at the Church of Sant’Antonio di Padova, adjacent to the friary. On this occasion, the friars celebrated the jubilee anniversaries occurring in 2021, carried out the extraction of the patron saints and commemorated the late Friar Luigi IANNITTO, who for decades had been enrolled in the Provincial Custody of the Orient and the Holy Land.
The day ended around 2:00 p.m., after a joyful fraternal agape meal.
