On September 1-5, 2019, the first part of the Ordinary Provincial Chapter of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in India took place at the Assisi Shanti Kendra Friary, in Karukutty, India.

Friar Carlos Alberto TROVARELLI, the Minister General, presided over the Chapter. He was assisted by Friar Benedetto Seung-jae BAEK, the Assistant General for the Federation of Asian Minors Conventual (FAMC).
The Chapter began in the evening of September 1, with a reflection led by Friar James MCCURRY on “Minority from the Biblical, Theological and Franciscan Perspective”. On the second day, Friar Carlos officially opened the Chapter with Friar Benedetto present. Next, reports from the last quadrennium were presented. On the fourth day, there were group discussions and debate in the Assembly regarding various aspects of the Province. On the morning of the fifth day, after Morning Prayer, Friar Carlos received the Oath of Office from Friar Bonaventure KALLUVETTUKUZHIYIL who had been elected the new Minister Provincial. Later that morning, the members of the Provincial Definitory were elected. The Definitory members are Friars Anthony NALLUKUNNEL (Vicar Provincial and Definitor); Williams PENGIPARAMBIL (Provincial Secretary and Definitor); Roger VAZHAPPILLY (Definitor) and Stephen OLETHAZHETH (Definitor). The second part of the Ordinary Provincial Chapter is scheduled for September 25-29, 2019.
