On Sunday, February 14, 2021, six clerical student-friars of the Major Seminary in Cracow received the Ministry of Lector. The Mass was celebrated in Cracow in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and was presided over by the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow), Friar Marian GOŁĄB.
“Take this book of Holy Scripture and be faithful in handing on the word of God, so that it may grow strong in the hearts of his people.” These were the words from the Rite for the Institution of Lectors. One of the things Friar Marian said in his homily was: “I ask you to receive the Word of God with an open heart. Before starting to proclaim it, you must know it and then conform your whole life to it…Today you are chosen, brothers, for the mission of bringing every person to God. In a few years, mandated by the Church, holding the Bible in your hand, you will be sent forth with the message of the Good News that the world so badly needs.”
Five friars from the Province of Cracow received the Ministry of Lector, namely, Friars Dawid FURGAŁ, Szymon TUPTOŃSKI, Mateusz SEWERYN, Piotr NATYNA, and Łukasz GRADEK, together with a confrere from the Province of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the Czech Republic, Friar Jan VÍCHA.
