On June 23, 2018, the diaconal ordination of one of our confreres was celebrated in the Province of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in the Czech Republic.

The ordination took place at the cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Brno. Friar Petr MACHÁČEK, from the Diocese of Brno, was ordained to the diaconate by the laying on of hands of the Most Reverend Vojtěch Cikrle, Bishop of Brno, Czech Republic.
Prior to the celebration, a spiritual retreat was conducted at Velehrad, a place linked to Saints Cyril and Methodius. The retreat was led by Father Adam RUCKI of the diocese of Ostrava-Opava and was intended for all of the ordination candidates from a number of different dioceses.
The cathedral was filled with faithful as Bishop CIKRLE ordained three deacons and four priests.
During the vacation season, Friar Petr will serve as a deacon at the Conventual Franciscan friaries in Opava and Brno. After that, he will undertake his sixth year of studies in Bratislava.
We entrust our confrere to the protection of Our Lady of Civlín, and we recommend him to the prayers of all his loved ones and all the friars in particular.
