Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27, 2023), was a historic day for the Friary of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe (Casa Kolbe) in Rome.
On that day, the “Ordine dei Giornalisti” (Order of Journalists) Association of the Italian Region of Lazio and the “Articolo 21 liberi di…” Association (Article 21, free to…) organized a conference entitled: “Communicating: The Ten Words of Pope Francis” (reflecting on the Pope’s recent message for the 57th World Day of Social Communications, “Speaking with the Heart – The Truth in Love”). At the end of the conference, Author Dacia MARAINI laid a wreath in the Foundation Cell of the Militia of the Immaculata, (M.I.), where St. Maximilian M. Kolbe lived for six years. St. Maximilian was killed in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp on August 14, 1941.
We ask for eternal rest for the victims of the holocaust and for the many other victims of the Nazi extermination camps and other totalitarian regimes in the 20th century. Let us pray to the Queen of Peace and commit ourselves to peace.
“I ask therefore: Has God repudiated his people? Impossible! For I, too, am an Israelite, of the lineage of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected his people, whom he chose from the beginning” (Rom 11:1-2).
